Understand what you own, what you’ve committed, how it’s performing, and what needs attention.
OpenLock is being built to connect the information, ownership relationships, and business knowledge behind your portfolio. Bring investment performance, manager reporting, operating-company data, documents, and approved context together to understand results, explain changes, and see what needs attention.
For family offices, private equity groups, and investment holding companies managing investments across multiple entities, teams, and systems.
OpenLock is under development. These fictional examples illustrate proposed capabilities. Each engagement is scoped to your systems, permissions, and priorities.
01 PORTFOLIO CONTEXT
Your portfolio is connected even when your information is not
A capital call arrives in a fund portal. A manager’s performance report covers the prior quarter. An operating-company forecast sits in a spreadsheet. An investment decision lives in a committee memo. The reason an entity’s cash is reserved may be known only to its controller.
Your team needs to understand how those facts relate to investment performance and the decisions ahead. OpenLock’s approach connects reported results with the people, definitions, and operating context behind them, while keeping evidence, dates, and access rules attached.
Your review may span family entities, external managers, direct holdings, and advisers. An answer should show whose information it uses, which period it covers, and who can resolve the remaining question.
02 SIX SOLUTION AREAS
Six areas of portfolio and investment intelligence
01
Investment Performance Intelligence
Review reported investment returns, income, and valuation changes against objectives and relevant benchmarks. Keep reporting periods, fees, valuation bases, and realized versus unrealized results clear. Connect manager reports and operating context to explain performance, and flag missing or inconsistent information.
How are our investments performing against expectations, and what is driving the results?
02
Portfolio and Entity Intelligence
Connect investments, legal entities, ownership records, and supporting documents so your team can follow the relationships behind a portfolio view. Make missing information and conflicting records visible.
Which entities hold this investment, and what other exposure do we have through connected holdings?
03
Commitments and Liquidity
Review upcoming obligations alongside relevant cash information and approved context. Distinguish issued capital calls from future commitments, and proposed distributions from approvals and cash received. Keep the responsible entity and restrictions visible.
What is due next quarter, and what information or approval do we need to confirm funding?
04
Operating Company and Direct Investment Oversight
Connect investment performance with the operating information that explains it. Bring authorized company reports, forecasts, and relevant operational records into the review.
Which investments need attention, what changed, and what is the operating reason behind it?
05
Investment Review and Relationship Memory
Connect diligence materials, relationship history, meeting notes, and investment decisions. Help authorized people recover previous findings, understand the reasons behind decisions, and see what still requires investigation.
Have we reviewed this manager or opportunity before, and which concerns shaped our decision?
06
Entity Obligations and Institutional Continuity
Connect entity records, document requests, approvals, and operating procedures to the people responsible. Retain approved explanations so recurring questions can be answered as the team and portfolio change.
What is due, who is responsible, and what is the approved process for this entity?
03 LEARNING THROUGH REVIEW
Make the explanation useful the next time
An answer becomes reusable knowledge when its evidence, meaning, and scope have been reviewed.
The cash is there. Is it available?
At this snapshot: interpretation proposed; authorized review pending; reusable knowledge not yet approved.
Can the proposed distribution help fund the upcoming capital call?
The review connects a confirmed fund obligation with a proposed operating-company distribution. A company’s cash balance and the cash available to the investing entity answer different questions.
An Endpoint agent would propose the source-level explanation; the Harmonic Agent would connect it to the fund obligation and forecast, then return a question.
01
Controller’s explanation
This balance includes our seasonal working-capital reserve. The proposed distribution needs board approval, and receipt must be confirmed before we count it as cash available to the investing entity.
02
Propose source-level meaning
For Enterprise Holdings LLC, displayed as Operating Company B, the forecast dated 2026-10-20 includes a seasonal working-capital reserve. Treat the proposed distribution as a labeled forecast assumption until the relevant approvals, recipient and funding path, actual receipt and cash-availability conditions are separately established.
03
Relate the evidence across sources
Propose a relationship between the obligation and a forecast-only distribution scenario without treating the operating-company balance as the obligor's available cash.
Preserve distinct source meanings and identify the missing recipient, restriction, approval, receipt and availability evidence.
04
Return a precise question
Should the distribution appear only in the forecast scenario until the relevant approvals and receipt are established?
05
Review with the authorized owners
The responsible owners would review the proposed interpretation for the relevant entities, review period, and evidence, and verify the proposed recipient and funding path. Approval of the interpretation would remain separate from approval of the distribution.
If approved, future authorized reviews could reuse the explanation while checking for changes to reserves, approvals, or receipt. New evidence would return the question to the appropriate owner.
Scope, evidence and future review · The cash is there. Is it available?+
Proposed meaning as of: · Review pending
Conditions for any future reuse
The authorized owner accepts the meaning and scoped relationship, with a recorded review decision and version.
Reuse remains limited to the named entity, forecast and authorized business purpose; a different entity or forecast requires revalidation.
Source-read permission, permission for the processing model and outward disclosure permission are separately satisfied.
The distribution's transaction states must be checked from current authorized evidence; approved meaning does not turn proposed cash into received or available cash.
Bring it back for review when circumstances change
A new forecast or reserve policy.
A board decision, recipient change, confirmed receipt or restriction change.
A corrected source record, changed permissions or changed business purpose.
Still unresolved at this snapshot
The call remains due on 2026-11-06 with its funding source unconfirmed.
The distribution remains proposed and forecast-only.
Recipient, authorized funding path, approval, receipt and availability remain unestablished.
The meaning proposal can remain pending; no automatic acceptance occurs.
An opportunity with history
At this snapshot: interpretation proposed; authorized review pending; reusable knowledge not yet approved.
What do we already know about this sponsor?
Earlier diligence paused a deal over customer concentration and reporting quality. New co-investment materials update the concentration information, which still needs verification; the reporting question remains open.
An Endpoint agent would propose a scoped reading of the prior memo; the Harmonic Agent would relate it to the new materials, then return a question.
01
Investment lead’s explanation
The earlier decision applied to that deal and the information we had then. It was not a standing rejection of the sponsor.
02
Propose source-level meaning
The 2025-07-18 pause concerned the earlier deal and the concentration and reporting evidence then available. It was not a standing rejection of the sponsor. Link that scoped history to Co-investment C while preserving unverified current concentration evidence, open reporting questions and the new opportunity's separate decision status.
03
Relate the evidence across sources
Propose a scoped link between the new opportunity and prior review context in Harmonic Memory.
Keep old and current evidence dates distinct, mark unresolved questions, and preserve the current opportunity's separate decision status.
04
Return a precise question
Which earlier findings remain relevant to this opportunity, and which need fresh diligence?
05
Review with the authorized owners
An authorized investment reviewer would confirm which findings apply to this opportunity, which belong to the earlier deal, and which questions remain unresolved. Any approved interpretation would retain its date and evidence.
Required reviewers: Authorized prior-decision owner · Investment lead with the required review authority
06
Reuse only after approval
If approved, permitted teams could carry the reviewed history into the next conversation, keeping facts, past judgments, and open questions distinct. Each investment decision would stay with the authorized team.
Scope, evidence and future review · An opportunity with history+
Proposed meaning as of: · Review pending
Conditions for any future reuse
The authorized prior-decision owner accepts the interpretation and relationship with recorded scope, evidence dates, review decision and version.
Treat the proposed SPV identity as unverified until independently confirmed through the authorized process.
Reuse only within the relevant authorized deal review and permissions; do not create a sponsor-wide exclusion or approval.
Preserve unresolved current diligence and obtain the separate investment decision required for the current opportunity.
Bring it back for review when circumstances change
A correction to the historical decision or underlying diligence record.
Verified current concentration information or new reporting evidence.
A confirmed vehicle identity, changed review scope or changed permissions.
Still unresolved at this snapshot
The historical decision remains a pause of the earlier deal.
The current opportunity remains in diligence, with no investment decision.
Updated concentration evidence requires verification and reporting questions remain open.
The proposed relationship meaning remains pending authorized review.
04 RELATED INVESTMENT WORK
A foundation for related investment workflows
Related investment businesses can apply the same approach to their own responsibilities, sources, and access rights.
Private equity groups
Connect diligence, portfolio-company oversight, operating plans, and investor reporting with the evidence and review processes behind them.
Investment holding companies
Connect the performance and capital needs of businesses that operate across different entities, teams, and systems.
Investment banking and M&A advisory
Apply the approach to mandates, diligence requests, transaction documents, relationships, and knowledge from prior engagements. Permissions and review follow each engagement’s boundaries.
05 BUSINESS BLUEPRINT
Start with the work your team needs to improve
An OpenLock Business Blueprint begins with your business units, people, and recurring processes. We map the supporting systems and information, identify where questions get delayed, and agree on definitions and access rules.
Choose a practical starting point: investment performance reviews, upcoming commitments, direct-investment oversight, or entity obligations. Define an owner, accessible sources, and an outcome your team can measure. Implementation can then connect the required sources and establish how knowledge is proposed, approved, and reused.
Connect the information behind an important decision, and build from a workflow your team can evaluate.
06 COMMON QUESTIONS
Common questions
Can OpenLock work with our existing software?+
The approach starts with the systems you use. Discovery confirms which information can be connected through available APIs, exports, and authorized documents, and where additional integration work is required.
Can it support both passive and active investments?+
That is the intended scope. Passive fund and minority holdings may provide manager reports, notices, and communications. Controlled operating companies may provide more detailed systems and process information. Each view reflects authorized access; owning an investment does not automatically provide access to its underlying operating systems.
Where should we begin?+
Choose one recurring question that requires your team to gather information from several places. Use the Blueprint to map the work, confirm available evidence, and define a first implementation your team can evaluate.
